Pipestem Resort State Park, WV - April 9th-12th

Hooray for no more traffic! Finally, this leg of our trip was a pleasant drive with no traffic delays. We arrived at Pipestem Resort State Park in Pipestem, WV Tuesday at dusk. Because it's so early in the season we were able to pick just about any site we wanted. We stayed in site #7 which was beautiful and had full hook up, plus was very level.

By the time we picked our site and got set up it was after 9:00 and we were starving. Having been in the RV all day, first working, then driving for several hours, we opted to hop in the car and grab dinner out. Just a casual meal at Applebee's, then home for bed...well, maybe I squeezed a Castle episode in before bed.

Before starting work Wednesday morning I snapped some shots of our site (#7) and the surrounding area.
This park is beautiful, another one we cannot wait to come back to one fall for the leaves.

Woo-hoo, we now have 10 states on our map. That's 10 states we've stayed at least one night in the RV.

After work on Wednesday we headed out to do a bit of exploring. Below is New River Gorge Bridge.

We headed back to Pipestem Lodge and had a wonderful steak dinner in their restaurant.

Above and below are views from our dinner table.

Snapped a photo of lodge as we were leaving.

We had to work again Thursday, but as soon as we were done we hopped in the car and headed to Wytheville, VA about an hour away to see our good friends (and mom and dad's good friends) Thom and Penny Cooper. The two photos below were just before we got to their place.

This is Thom and Penny's cute house (below).

Thom took us for a ride across the property.

At one point, we counted 30 deer out in front of us!

We had such a great time visiting with Thom and Penny. Thank you both for the wonderful meal  and fellowship!

We headed back home and got tucked in all snug and cozy just before midnight and just before the rain. It rained hard most of the night and was drizzling when we got up on Friday morning. Dave had to work and I didn't, so I took care of some other things and when he was finished we explored the park a bit more.

So many deer!

Pipestem is a beautiful campground with tons of amenities. Horseback riding, archery, swimming, tennis, golf, trails, restaurants, gift shops, plus they have an outdoor amphitheater with plays and concerts. We will definitely come back one fall during leaf season! Onward to our next destination.....Edinburg, VA!

Until then....blessings~
Misi and Dave
