Lewes, DE April 19th - 20th

Friday afternoon we arrived at what would be the last stop of our trip. Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, DE was our temporary home for one night. It is a beautiful park with beach access. Be aware that it only has water hook-up, no power or sewer and generators are not allowed at all. Still, it is lovely.

Drive into Lewes on our way to Cape Henlopen

After we set up camp we drove around the park and found the beach access. It was chilly that day, but beautiful! i can imagine how busy it gets here during the peak season!

This walkway leads to the beach and the buildings house restrooms and a  nice looking cafe that opens later in the season.

This is another place we would love to come back to later in the year!
We headed out of the park and into downtown historic Lewes.
The ten photos below are of the restaurant The Buttery where we ate lunch. It is beautiful and the food was fantastic!

We ate out on the lovely porch.

This town is so cute...like Mt. Dora, FL.

We were amazed at how clean and neat everything was...even the extremely old tombstones look ed like they get cleaned or even bleached!

Beautiful historic homes!

Not far from Lewes is Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk. It is a little more touristy, but really cute. Lots of shops and restaurants!

Rehoboth Beach
After taking a drive and checking out Rehoboth Beach and Boardwalk, we headed back to Lewes and ate dinner at the local Irish Pub.
Irish Eyes Pub
After a hearty dinner at Irish Eyes we headed back home to rest up for our very long trip home the next day. We decided not to stop in Savannah, GA this time but to drive straight through so we would have Sunday to recoup before work on Monday.
Adding our Delaware sticker to the map!

14 states on our map so far! Woo-hoo!

We are headed home here...it's only 930 miles...not too bad, lol!

We took the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel which was pretty cool and just a little freaky  being in a tunnel under water!

Going under!

Under the water!

We made it! Coming back out!
Well, after listening to audio books, a movie on the laptop and doing lots of snacking, we (by we I mean Dave, lol) drove some 930 miles straight through and arrived home to Apopka, FL around 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning. We slept late of course, but enjoyed a leisurely Sunday getting things in order and spending time with the kitties before the start of a new work week.

We feel very blessed to be able to take these trips and see a bit of this beautiful country we are privileged to live in. We are looking forward (hopefully) to another big trip in the fall.

Until then......

Blessings~
Misi and Dave
